UEZ-funded programs help attract shoppers to retail areas, encourage new business investments, and provide for trained workers and business leaders.
The funds that result from the sales-tax collections in the Urban Enterprise Zone are reinvested in a variety of programs to make Jersey City neighborhoods cleaner, safer, more beautiful and more prosperous. These UEZ-funded programs include initiatives for capital investments and municipal services such as street security, helping purchase new police vehicles, sanitation services and planters, and façade improvements.

UEZ also provides the funding for several technical-assistance and training programs for Jersey City businesses and residents.
