A key component of the Smart Growth Redevelopment Plan for Jersey City's Westside area, the Business Development Incubator (BDI) at New Jersey City University (NJCU) is funded in part by the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation, Jersey City Urban Enterprise Zone, and the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.
Dedicated to improving the long-term economic vitality of our area by facilitating the formation of profitable technology-based entrepreneurial ventures, the Business Development Incubator (BDI) at New Jersey City University (NJCU) provides young, small companies with reasonably priced office space and shared office services to reduce overhead, as well as the marketing, management, legal and technical assistance needed to commercialize products and services.

Housed in a renovated former laundry facility, the BDI at NJCU is led by Director Gina Boesch and includes 30 offices, 15 workstations, 3 conference rooms, a library, kitchen, storage spaces and Commons area. Since its opening in 2005, the BDI has launched 8 companies. It currently serves 20 companies that have created or retained 112 jobs through 2008.
